2021 GTI Certificate of Leadership Program

Earn Your Certificate of Leadership!

Participating in the 2021 Georgia Teen Institute (GTI) Certificate of Leadership program gives youth and young adult leaders the core knowledge and skills they need to lead at home, at school, in leadership roles and in the community. The program offers participants the opportunity to bond with other youth and young adult leaders, connect with adults who are invested in youth empowerment and learn meaningful, applicable skills through online leadership training. The 2021 GTI Certificate of Leadership program is offered free of charge!

Our program is 100% virtual and will run from June 9 – July 29, 2021. All individuals who are rising 9th graders for the 2021-2022 school year or up to age 22 are invited to participate! See below for some incredible incentives we are offering this year, including $100 cash for those who complete the program!

About Our Program

From webinar to workshop: learn critical leadership skills and immediately put them into ACTION by creating your personal Leadership Manifesto. Work in collaboration with other young leaders in a virtual cohort with a seasoned Action Coach guiding you on this dynamic leadership journey. Together, explore and hone your leadership skills, define who you want to be as a leader and chart your pathway to become a leader who ACTS. You can think differently, take ACTION and create change!

All participants will complete the following (full details are available in our Program Guide):

  • Seven live Core Courses containing mini-webinar lessons and small group cohort meetings
  • A topical Elective Track consisting of three (live or on-demand) webinars
    • Elective Tracks include the following:
      • Me First: This track will focus on exploring and learning about yourself: your strengths, weaknesses, passions, personality and what makes you the unique leader you are. You will experience a personality survey as well as explore habits that focus on keeping yourself healthy as a leader. This track is a great way to learn more about your best leadership asset: YOU.
        • Strongly recommended for rising 9th graders and those new to Georgia Teen Institute programs
      • Leadership in the Real World: You’ve graduated high school…now what? This track will focus on taking your high school leadership skills to the next level and applying them in college or in your chosen work or career path. You will hear from and interact with multiple real-world leaders as well as explore what cultural competency looks like in your reality currently (e.g., college, work, internship, etc.).
        • Participant must be a high school graduate by June 2021 to select this track
      • Facilitation and Group Leadership: This track is for any young leader who loves to stand in front of a group! Or, for anyone who has found themselves in charge of a group and is not sure exactly where to start. We will consider the skills you need to be an effective group facilitator, look at how to deal with challenges in facilitation and go through some engaging activities that you can use with your groups – virtually or in person!
      • YAB Track
        • All 2021-2022 GUIDE Youth Advisory Board members must select the YAB Track (if the incorrect track is selected during registration, the participant will be reassigned to the correct track).
  • A final project of creating a personal Leadership Manifesto
  • Final project presentation and graduation
