GUIDE is pleased to announce the release of staff applications for Georgia Teen Institute 2018! Applications are due by 5 pm on January 12, 2018.
Georgia Teen Institute (GTI) is a life-changing summer leadership program, which takes place at Oxford College. Youth Action Teams from across the state come together to create action plans in order to create positive community change; participate in engaging, hands-on workshops; learn leadership, communication and networking skills; gain a better understanding of the importance of prevention and issues associated with alcohol, tobacco and other drug use; and have a fantastic time, too!

Please see below for typical deadlines and events regarding the staffing process.
Phase One: Application
Fill out the online application and submit it by 5 pm on January 12, 2018. Please make sure to answer all of the questions. If you have any questions about the application or staffing our program, feel free to send an email to firstname.lastname@example.org.
Phase Two: Interviews & Selection
Upon submitting your application, you will be contacted about attending a Staff Orientation/Interview Session which will take place in January. During this time, you’ll meet other GTI staff who will take the time to get to know you and why you’re interested in staffing our summer program.
NOTE: Returning Young Adult Staff and Adult Staff will be asked to participate in a phone interview only.
All applicants will be notified during the first two weeks of February via email of their selection status.
Phase Three: Staff Development Weekend 1 (SDW1)
Woodland Christian Camp
All selected staff are required to attend Staff Development Weekend 1, which will be held March 23-25, 2018.
Phase Four: Assignments
Between SDW1 and SDW2, all staff members are required to complete assignments in order to help become better prepared for GTI. Staff will be provided with these details at SDW1. Most assignments will require approximately 15 minutes.
Phase Five: Staff Development Weekend 2 and 2.5 (SDW2, SDW2.5)
Oxford College, Oxford, GA
All staff are required to attend Staff Development Weekend 2 for final training and preparation. This training will be held June 8-10, 2018. All staff attending GTI Week 2 are required to attend Staff Development Weekend 2.5, which will be held June 17-18, 2018.
Phase Six: Georgia Teen Institute (GTI)
Oxford College, Oxford, GA
GTI Week 1 will be held June 11-14, 2018 and Week 2 will be held June 19-22, 2018. We would LOVE for you to staff both weeks, but if you are unable, you must be present for at least one entire program.
All applicants have an equal chance of being asked to serve as GTI staff. Anyone applying for staff at any level must:
- complete the online application thoroughly and on time;
- participate in either an in-person Staff Orientation/Interview Session or a phone interview;
- lead an alcohol, tobacco and drug-free lifestyle at all times;
- attend Staff Development Weekends; and
- attend at least one full program week at GTI 2018.
Preliminary staff decisions will be made by mid-February, and all eligible applicants will receive an emailed invitation to Staff Development Weekend 1.
At GTI, all staff may be asked to serve as workshop assistants, lead energizers, staff Free Time, lead Team Meetings and Family Groups, lead team building and complete other duties as assigned. We will work with each applicant to determine his/her best fit while at GTI.
Youth Staff (YS): Youth Staff should be between the ages of 15-18 and must be at least a freshman in high school at the time of application.
Young Adult Staff (YAS): Young Adult Staff should be between the ages of 18-22 and must be out of high school for at least one year at the time of the program.
Adult Staff (AS): Adult Staff should be at least 23 years of age.
